She, Eustace, Puddleglum and the Prince are on horseback deep underground, interrogating to a gnome, who says his name is Golg and informs them that all the gnomes are celebrating -- they had been enchanted into working for a Witch, but now they're free, and they're all jumping into a chasm into the Really Deep Land called Bism, which is full of living, edible jewels.
Golg thinks that the surface of the world sounds like a terrible and terrifying place, but he nevertheless tells the travelers how to get back to it, although he does invite them down into Bism, which Jill thinks is a horrifying idea.
Eventually, after a lot of running around and talking about Bism, and the Prince telling the story of his own enchantment and deliverance at least ten times, they get on the road. Jill is very worried, because they may be about to get cut off by a flood, besides which, she's claustrophobic and hates being underground to begin with.
They ride through the dark and rising water for over an hour, until eventually they have to stop and walk the horses because the road is so uneven. Shortly afterward, the lamps go out. They go on through the dark until finally, Eustace sees a strange, cold blue light up ahead, and Puddleglum suggests that Jill could stand on his shoulders and reach it.
* Oh, so our guide's name is Puddleglum!
* We cut off a Witch's head and rescued a Prince!
* There's a whole world under the world.
+500 hating being underground or shut in dark spaces
+100 not wanting to show she's scared when she is
